چکیده

THROMBOSIS OF the hepatic artery (HAT) continues to be a serious complication following orthotopic liver transplantation (OL Tx). Several studies have failed to identify possible risk factors that may be related to thrombosis of the hepatic artery. Nonetheless. a clear definition of the responsible factors is necessary to formulate guidelines and protocols for the prevention and management of this dreaded complica tion. In the present study two homogeneous and comparable populations of pediatric patients consisting of children who developed thrombosis of the hepatic artery after OL Tx (HAT group) and those who did not (control group) have been identified. An accurate statistical comparison between these two groups has been carried out in an attempt to identify the responsible factors leading to thrombosis and to develop a management protocol for this complication.

Hepatic artery thrombosis after orthotopic liver transplantation.

OBJECTIVE Hepatic artery thrombosis after liver transplantation is uncommon, but represents an important cause of morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study is to identify the possible risk factors for the development of hepatic artery thrombosis, and the impact of hepatic artery thrombosis on the patients and graft survival. METHODS Between January 1994 and June 1998, we reviewed retrosp...

Hepatic artery thrombosis following pediatric liver transplantation: Assessment of blood flow measurement in allografts.

The purpose of this study was to define parameters which could be predictive of hepatic artery thrombosis, which continues to be a major complicating factor in pediatric liver transplantation. The hepatic blood flow of 14 pediatric liver patients (15 grafts) who weighed less than 15 kg was measured electromagnetically during orthotopic liver transplantation. The results of blood flow determinat...

Risk factors for intraoperative portal vein thrombosis in pediatric living donor liver transplantation.

Pathologic changes of the recipient native portal venous system may cause thrombosis of the portal vein, especially in pediatric living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). This study assessed the utility of Doppler ultrasound (US) for the detection of intraoperative portal vein occlusion and identification of predisposing risk factors in the recipients. Seventy-three pediatric recipients who un...

Review of Natural History, Benefits and Risk Factors Pediatric Liver Transplantation

Liver or hepatic transplantation (LT) is the replacement of a diseased liver with part or whole healthy liver from another person (allograft). Liver transplantation is a viable treatment option for end-stage liver disease and acute liver failure....
